![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Greeting from Honduras - perhaps I should say a HOT Honduras. We are all doing well and hope the same for you. God continues to open new doors through our Honduran and El Salvador brothers. This past Sunday we visited a new church plant in Rio Bijao. They already have over 40 members and are renting a small house. This community has over 900 families. They have already organized the youth and the ladies. They had each group come up for us during service. It was exciting to see them so enthusiastic about the work of the Lord in this community. Pray with us that God will help them to be able to find property and build a building so that they can have a permanent place to worship. A few months ago we visited a village along the Jicatuyo river. The village we visited has over 70 homes. That is about 600 people. There is no church there. There are 2 other villages close that are about the same size and no church or pastor. We have one of our Bible Institute students that is planing on going there after he graduates in December to begin pastoring in this area. This is a wonderful opportunity for ministry in an unreached area. We ask for you to help us pray that God will work out all of the details for this to happen. We have been able to purchase property for a second church in El Salvador. Pray that God will provide a permanent pastor for this work in Sonsonate, El Salvador. Last month in August we traveled to Nicaragua with 44 ministers from Honduras and El Salvador where we attended the 4th Central American Pastor's Congress. God blessed all of us through the preaching and teaching of the Word. It was also great to see pastors from all of Central America sharing and fellowshiping together. We had a lot of fun on the trip there and back in the "old red bus". Thank you for your faithful monthly support and prayers, these are a vital part in the harvest of souls here in Honduras and El Salvador. We were privileged to attend a conference for Missionaries in Siguatepeque last week. It was refreshing to be with our peers from many other denominations and share with each other. The children especially enjoyed the 2 days of being with other MK's. Roads in third world countries are bad and Honduras is no exception. The main highways have improved over the last few years. However, much of our traveling time is spent on rural roads and many of them are 4 wheel drive only roads. We have in our budget a set amount for travel and it covers fuel and most of the repairs. However, our pick-up has problems with the motor. It has over 250,000 Kilometers on it and is burning a quart of oil every 400 Kilometers. The motor needs to be rebuilt. It will cost about $1600.00 - We have $500 that we can use toward this. Please help us pray that God will provide for this need. Please remember us in prayer. Yours for Missions, Les, Charlene, Scott, Craig and Rosalie Melton Last Updated on 9/19/02 |
