March Newsletter

Dear Family and Friends,

March 14, 2007

There are many tests that come in our lives.  Sunday morning March 11 the parsonage at the church in Brisas de Canada caught on fire.  The pastor and congregation were on a bus traveling to a nearby river for a baptism.  We received a call that the church was on fire.  Upon arrival there was nothing left of the parsonage but ashes and ruin.  The church also suffered damage to the roof, wiring, and sound system.

How sad it was when the pastor and his family  arrived about an hour after we did to find everything in ashes.  They cried when they saw the loss of everything they had.  They have two boys - one 17 and the other 6.

In the ashes of the fire there is beauty.   I heard several members ask the pastor if there would be service that night.  At first he said no, then later decided to have service.  There were 4 that rededicated their lives to the Lord and 3 were saved.  Praise the Lord for beauty from ashes.

Please pray with us for the needed finances to help them rebuild the parsonage, buy furnishings and personal items, replace tools that the pastor uses to work (he is a refrigeration man), and to repair the damage to the church and equipment.

God Bless,

Les ,Charlene Scott, Craig & Rosalie Melton
